Canada's AI Strategy Task Force

Announced in September 2025 as part of the Government of Canada's 30-day national sprint to help shape Canada's approach to AI, the AI Strategy Task Force is a group of experts that includes members of industry, academia and civil society, who will consult their networks to provide actionable insights and recommendations.

Sonia Sennik's memos shared with the Government of Canada are available below.

Memos

1 / Adoption across industry and governments

Canada faces an AI adoption crisis, with its business sector lagging G7 peers in digital intensity and uptake — what will it take to turn that around?

2 / Scaling champions and attracting investment

For Canadian ventures to achieve massive scale, they must make early decisions to position themselves for global impact — what are those decisions?

3 / Building safe AI systems and public trust in AI

Canada's cyber resilience is central to ensuring AI supports the interests and values of its citizens — why are we treating trust as a compliance step rather than a design requirement?
